Australian Formula Open (AFO) is Driven by The Formula Race Car Association – a fully affiliated Motorsport Australia club, incorporated in Australia. 2011 was the first year as a stand-alone category in the Motorsport Australia NSW Motor Race Championship and the category has grown continuously ever since.

Formula Open attracts several new competitors, cars and club members each season and this has continued to grow as the theme of combining different open wheel cars – all competing together – gains popularity.
